On May 11, Ukrainian lightweight star Vasiliy Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) will take on Australian warrior George Kambosos Jr. (21-2, 10 KOs) for the vacant IBF world lightweight title at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. The Top Rank promoted clash will present a springboard for both fighters to bigger opportunities. Ahead of this fight, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has spoken to Sky Sports and teased a potentially enthralling future fight between Loma and WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson.

Top Rank CEO Talks Ability of George Kambosos

Bob Arum Teases Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Shakur Stevenson

The Ukrainian star will be eager to return to winning ways against Kambosos after losing controversially to Devin Haney last time out. If he comes through this intriguing contest in Perth, Arum has spoken of a possible match-up against Stevenson in a lightweight unification fight.

“Kambosos is a real threat. He can get up for a fight, he’s very talented, Lomachenko is super talented,” Arum told Sky Sports.

Arum continued: “But again there is his age, particularly in the lighter weight divisions where age is more of a factor than in the heavyweight divisions.”

He added: “But hopefully Lomachenko is able to rise to the occasion and win the title, because there’s no fighter that I enjoy watching more than Lomachenko. He’s a really great technician.”

Arum Discusses Loma vs. Shakur

Stevenson despite being one of the most gifted boxers in the world, will be looking to bounce back on July 6 against Artem Harutyunyan in New Jersey after a disappointing performance last time out against Edwin De Los Santos.

Like Loma, If the WBC titlist wins his next fight, the Top Rank CEO has teased a possible matchup between the two brilliant lightweights: “I have this other fighter Shakur Stevenson, who is also a great technician,” Arum added.

Revealing a potential time the fight could take place: “So if Lomachenko wins and Shakur, who is scheduled to fight in July wins, then for the fall to do a Lomachenko-Shakur fight, every serious boxing fan will be watching that in awe between two great technicians fighting for a unified title.”

Not wanting to overlook Kambosos, Arum said: “Let’s see what happens. Kambosos is very very good. Even though he doesn’t come from Perth he’s fighting on home territory which means something.”

He added: “I’m looking forward to it, it’s going to be sold out in Perth.”
