Fabio Wardley always had something planned for next year and this time he is ready to face Frazer Clarke for the second time on the 12th of October. The two fighters had a previous fight in March for the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles with the match ending in a draw and both calling for a rematch immediately. The bout is now expected to take place on the undercard of the Artur Beterbiev-Dmitry Bivol fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fabio Wardley Looks Back on Their First Fight

Fabio Wardley, who is still a member of the Queensberry Promotions but has recently inked with the boxing company, has watched the fight with his team and is already noting some strategies that need to be changed. All in all, he looks satisfied with the overall performance of both fighters but at the same time admits that some of the combinations could be improved before the next fight.

He shared this due to poor judgment of when to put Frazer Clarke under tremendous pressure that cost him the fight even though he had Clarke beaten several times including a knockdown in the fifth round. Fabio Wardley plans to focus on making small adjustments to his strategy for the rematch, he stated;

There’s some small adjustments we can make along the way, he said. Overall I was relatively happy with my performance. I almost got him out of there a number of times and got him down, but in certain moments I rushed it. [I need to] take my time when I have him going and kind of pick the shots a bit better. But aside from that, overall I was relatively happy with the performance.

Clarke’s New Game Plan

Clarke told the media he has a new approach which he will try to apply in the second fight stating that he will punish Fabio Wardley with things he never expected in the first fight. But he has his doubts, he thinks Clarke is showing his best effort during their first fight. He emphasized that while Clarke might have reached his maximum potential;

Do I think he’s got much more in the tank? No. I don’t think he’ll have too many new tricks. There’s that saying about old dogs and new tricks – I don’t think he’s got too many more of those in his locker. That fight pushed him to the edge, whereas me – I’m still young and fresh. I’m still learning every fight, and there’s a lot I took from that fight to bring into the next one.

As it will be seen the two fighters are at their best for this rematch and fans should look forward to another great fight. For his part, Fabio Wardley is sure that the changes will suffice to give him the victory; Clarke, on the other hand, pledged that a new ward would present a tough competitive proposition. The fight will be a turning point in both of their careers.
