On October 12, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the undercard of Dmitry Bivol (23-0, 12 KOs) vs. Artur Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs), Fabio Wardley (17-0-1, 16 KOs) and Frazer Clarke (8-0-1, 6 KOs) collided once again – and it was Wardley who got a stunning stoppage win after their memorable all-British classic draw in March this year. Fight fans in the UK can watch the entire card on DAZN PPV, TNT Sports Box Office, and Sky Sports Box Office, while those in the United States can watch the main event on ESPN+. Viewers in Canada can watch the undercard on DAZN PPV and catch the main event on TSN or RDS.
After a quiet start to the round, Clarke let his jab go and seemed comfortable working behind that lead hand. A huge overhand right from Wardley scrambled the senses of Clarke, who looked stunned. The Ipswich fighter soon landed another big right hand that left his opponent crumpled in the corner, unable to continue.
What a devastating punch and performance from Wardley. We were all set for another war, but Wardley had other ideas, delivering a stunning first-round TKO and retaining his British and Commonwealth titles.
In the post-fight interview, Wardley, understandably happy said: “Look, I said I’ve got dynamite power in both hands.”
Talking about the strategy for the fight, he said: “We got the game plan right, put it together and executed on the night.”
He continued: “I can’t help it. War by name, war by nature.”
Talking about his fight-ending instinct the champion said: “Once I have my enemies hurt, there’s no hope for them.”
When asked what comes next, he said: “I want belts. I want titles.”
