Keyshawn Davis defends his WBO Lightweight Title on June 7 against Edwin De Los Santos, as fans gave their insights on who will come out on top.
Davis makes the first defense of his belt which he acquired after knocking out Denys Berinchyk in his last bout. That took his record to 13-0, with nine knockouts to his name. A win sets up a possible unification against the winner of Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr., who are expected to rematch in a WBA Lightweight clash. Alternatively, Keyshawn could move up to target the big names at 140 or 147.
De Los Santos has a world title fight for the second time in a row. He missed out on the vacant WBC Lightweight Title in his last fight, losing to Shakur Stevenson in a unanimous decision. De Los Santos is known for being a knockout artist, with a 16-2 record, with 14 wins coming by knockout. Here is how the fans saw the fight playing out.
“He’s not an old fighter. He’s young. De Los Santos is very young. What I do expect is probably the first couple rounds he’ll be slow, get his feet under him. The arena’s gonna be packed. It’s gonna be a lotta people, so it’s gonna be loud in there. “It’s gonna be a different environment from what his last fight was. It’s gonna be a totally different environment. So, maybe like the first two rounds he probably gonna have to wait till he gets settled in and get back in that groove. But in terms of him being off and being slower, I don’t think that at all,” Davis said
“I want to thank Keyshawn Davis for allowing me to become the WBO champion. Thank you to Top Rank and my promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, as well. It will be a great fight, but Keyshawn has made his first big mistake as a professional by choosing to face me. I will prove how big of a mistake it is on June 7. I will come to Norfolk in perfect shape and looking for a knockout,” De Los Santos said
