Floyd Mayweather Jr. Claps Back At Roy Jones Jr.

There will always be an endless debate about who would win in a dream matchup between Sugar Ray Leonard and Floyd Mayweather Jr. two of the greatest welterweights to ever lace up gloves.

Both fighters were undefeated in their prime. Both possessed elite speed, IQ, and footwork. And both were masters of adaptation — capable of dismantling champions in vastly different styles. Leonard was aggressive, explosive, and vicious when it mattered most a dazzling mix of power and precision who could slug with Hearns, outthink Benítez, and survive Duran. Mayweather, meanwhile, was a defensive wizard virtually unhittable in his prime, controlling range and tempo better than any fighter of his era, outclassing punchers and tacticians alike.

Many boxers and analyst have chimed in on this matter over the years. Roy Jones Jr. isn’t shy when it comes to boxing’s “what if” debates  and when asked about a fantasy matchup between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sugar Ray Leonard, the former four-division world champion came to Leonard’s defense with passion.

“To me, people don’t give him enough credit. People always say, ‘Well, Floyd would have beaten Sugar.’ No, baby Floyd is not nearly as mean as Sugar was.”

“How? How you gonna keep him off him? Sugar is a dog. People don’t understand  just because his name’s Sugar don’t mean nothing! Sugar is a dog. People don’t give him enough credit for that.”

Floyd Mayweather responds with a loud message

Floyd Mayweather Jr. took exception to Jones Jr. comments about Leonard besting him. Mayweather responded without using any words. Floyd posted a video from his IG showing highlights of Roy Jones Jr. getting knocked out by multiple fighters. Talk about the ultimate clap back without even having to use any words.
