The biggest boxing match of all time could be set for a blockbuster second chapter in 2026.
In recent weeks, there has been a lot of talk about Manny Pacquiao’s comeback plans and some of the delays in having anything made official.
The Filipino legend made his return to the ring earlier this year where he fought to a majority draw against Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title.
Since then, Pacquiao has been linked with multiple opponents but nothing has materialized.
The latest update on his plans for 2026 have provided the most surprising addition so far.
On Inside The Ring, Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger broke some news to kick off the show.
The episode was teased as providing an update on the surprising opponent that could face Manny Pacquiao when he steps back inside the ring in 2026.
Right off the bat, Coppinger revealed that Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2, a rematch of the biggest fight in boxing history, has been spoken about.
The two men first met in May of 2015, where after ‘Money’ won a unanimous decision at the end of 12 rounds, many felt like the fight had happened too late in their careers.
Mayweather is already lined up to face Mike Tyson in an exhibition bout next year, though a date hasn’t been made official for this clash of icons as of yet.
The bout was announced in September, with spring being the rough timeframe for when it is expected to take place after being signed.
Coppinger also added that Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 is specifically being spoken about in relation to Netflix putting the event on to continue their streak of only staging the biggest fights in the sport.
“I am hearing from reliable sources that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, yes more than ten years later, a rematch is being seriously discussed to take place next year on Netflix,” Coppinger announced. “I think there’s a real possibility this is going to happen.”
After their eventual meeting in 2015 was a huge moment for both men, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao went down very different paths in their careers.
Mayweather only fought two more times as a professional, taking his record to 30-0 before he regularly started competing in exhibition bouts against the likes of Logan Paul.
Pacquiao, who is two years younger than his former foe, has continued to compete in the professional ranks, though he did take a four-year break from 2021 to 2025.
| Stats | Floyd Mayweather | Manny Pacquiao |
| Age | 48 | 46 |
| Pro record since they fought | 2-0 | 5-2-1 |
| Most recent pro fight | Conor McGregor – August, 2017 | Mario Barrios – July, 2025 |
If their first fight was criticized due to their best days being behind them, it will be interesting to see how much interest this rematch generates.
