Manny Pacquiao wowed the boxing world in July as he returned to professional boxing in style against Mario Barrios.

Barrios defended his world title against Pacquiao as the fight ended in a draw. However, many feel ‘Pac-Man’ was the rightful winner of the bout.

Despite being 46 years of age, it appears as if Pacquiao’s return was not a one-off occasion. Expressing interest in fighting again, Pacquiao’s next opponent is not confirmed.

With many people changing their opinion on the boxing ability of a 46-year-old Pacquiao, one former great thinks the Filipino could defeat one of today’s stars.

Mikey Garcia believes Manny Pacquiao could defeat Rolly Romero

In a recent interview with FightHype.com, former world champion Mikey Garcia gave his thoughts on Pacquiao and his comeback.

Despite saying he had not seen the fight between Pacquiao and Barrios, the former three-division world champion said, “Manny did a lot better than I expected.”

Garcia added to this by saying, “It’s very impressive, for someone at his age, four or five years off, and to compete at the highest level.”

The now-retired boxer was asked where Pacquiao should go from his draw with Barrios, to which Garcia said he believed ‘Pac-Man’ would pursue a fight with Floyd Mayweather.

When asked who would win a rematch between the pair, Garcia chose Mayweather.

There was one fighter that Garcia picked for Pacquiao to beat. When asked about a potential fight between ‘Pac-Man’ and Rolando Romero, the Filipino got the nod from Garcia.

Romero is coming off of his upset win over Ryan Garcia in Times Square, with the pair seemingly set to rematch. However, should Pacquiao be next, Mikey Garcia said, “I think Manny might actually beat him.”

Explaining his thought process behind the statement, Garcia said Romero’s short stature could cause him problems against Pacquiao.

Mikey Garcia is not open to comeback fight with Manny Pacquiao

Although the likes of Shane Mosley were looking to face Pacquiao, Garcia is not.

Despite being nine years younger than Pacquiao, Garcia has no plans on returning to the sport. His last professional outing came in 2021, when he suffered the second defeat of his career to Sandor Martin.

When asked if he would return to face Pacquiao, Garcia said, “I know [it would be a big fight], but I’m retired.

However, later in the interview, when asked if he would fight Pacquiao for a figure of between $20-40 million, Garcia said, “Yeah, sign it… I’d be stupid not to sign that.”
