Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) was last seen potentially announcing retirement after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs). However, this might not be the case, according to promoter Frank Warren, who sees a Fury showdown in 2026.
On the Queensberry Promotions YouTube page, Warren revealed that Fury is looking to get active again very, very soon.
“We had a couple of conversations about it, where I hadn’t for a long time. We had a couple and he’s indicated that he wants to fight next year,” he said. “He won’t fight this year, for obvious reasons, with what he’s got going on, but he’s indicated he’d like to do that, and we’ll revisit that, I think before the end of the year and see where we go.”
Many might think that two back-to-back losses to Usyk might have pushed Fury to hang up his gloves for good. However, much to the delight of boxing aficionados, it looks like he might still want to pursue his long-drawn-out showdown against Anthony Joshua.
Warren agreed that Joshua is the most apt opponent for Fury during his comeback in 2026.
“The obvious one is Joshua because everybody wanted to see that fight and wants to see that fight. That’s an obvious one,” he said. Moreover, he went on to delve into Fury’s motivation for the fight. “To be blunt, it’s all about the money. That’s what it’s all about. These guys, at this stage of their career and this stage of their life, it’s tough. When you get older, it’s tough. You’re in the gym, you’re working hard. To get yourself to do that, you’ve got to be incentivized. What incentivizes professional boxers is money; that’s why they’re professionals.”
Meanwhile, Warren is all game if Fury instead wishes to avenge his loss against Usyk. In fact, he even feels that the Usyk fights have a major rewatch factor.
“The Usyk fights were quality fights, really good, and they were close fights. I don’t care what anybody says, they were close fights. They were good fights. I could watch those again,” he said. “If he wants to fight. I’d love to see him back in the ring, but whatever he does, he’s got to be happy.”
