Gervonta Davis received some good news after Florida prosecutors officially dismissed a felony charge of false imprisonment against him.
Prosecutors reportedly deemed the charge “redundant” because the allegations behind it are already covered by the more severe felony kidnapping count that remains. The case stems from a late-night confrontation on October 27, 2025, at Tootsies Cabaret in Miami Gardens. The alleged victim claimed she had recently ended an intimate relationship with Davis before the encounter.
According to the arrest warrant, Davis allegedly confronted her at her workplace, grabbing her by the hair and throat. Police reports and surveillance footage reportedly show Davis “forcefully escorting” Rossel down a stairwell and into a garage area while maintaining a grip on the back of her head. Davis was then eventually apprehended in Miami’s Design District in late January 2026.
While Davis has not been convicted, the fallout from these allegations has already reshaped the boxing landscape for 2026. Davis was originally scheduled to face Jake Paul in a massive crossover event in November 2025. Paul and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) canceled the bout, eventually replacing Davis with Anthony Joshua. Rossel is also pursuing a civil lawsuit against Davis for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
