Devin Haney has issued a challenge to Shakur Stevenson, labeling a potential meeting between the two “the biggest fight in boxing.”

Haney’s call-out came just days after Stevenson’s 119-109 unanimous decision victory over Teofimo Lopez at Madison Square Garden, a performance that saw Shakur capture the WBO and Ring junior welterweight titles and secure his status as a four-division world champion.

While Haney also acknowledged Keyshawn Davis, he made it clear that Stevenson is his main target. Haney himself dismantled Brian Norman Jr. in November 2025 to claim the WBO welterweight championship. By securing that title, Haney became a  three-weight world champion.

Will It Happen?

However, there is an obstacle to making this fight: the rehydration clause. Stevenson has stated that for any move to the 147-pound limit, he would require his opponents to adhere to a 10-pound rehydration limit—a condition he offered to Conor Benn.

“If he’s not gonna agree, then we probably don’t fight. But, we’ll see. I’m a businessman at the end of the day. “I don’t ever negotiate against myself. So we’ll see what happens at the negotiation table and I’ll let my management team handle that. Like I said, he did a rehydration clause with Chris Eubank. Eubank was in the ring half-dead. Why can’t he do the same thing?,” Stevenson said

Haney, however, has previously stood firm against such restrictions, maintaining that he will not accept any clauses. There could be a willingness to negotiate, provided the financial terms are met. With Stevenson having just set a Madison Square Garden attendance record, there is enough of a demand to see him fight.

“Me & Shakur are the next biggest fight in boxing! I want him & Keyshawn. Little bro then big bro! I’m ok with big brother [Keyshawn] first, too,” Haney said
