Harlem Eubank (19-0, 8 KOs) and Nurali Erdogan (16-3, 1 KO) will soon face each other in a welterweight contest.
The two men headline a November 22 Wasserman Boxing card at the Walker Dome in Newcastle, England. Boxing fans in the United Kingdom can catch the action live on Channel 5. A broadcaster for the remainder of the world has not been announced.
The bout was originally due to take place on October 25 in Bolton before being rescheduled to its current date. Ahead of their clash on Friday, below is some of what the fighters have had to say so far.
“He’s a former French champion and he’s going to be bringing 150%, as my opponents always do when they are fighting me,“ said Eubank to The Argus.
“It’s my debut at 147 against a very solid operator who is coming to put it all on the line.”
“Qui veut la paix, prépare la guerre [whoever wants peace, prepares for war],” said Erdogan on Instagram in late October.
“[R]endez vous le 22 novembre pour un gros fight à [N]ewcastle [see you on November 22 for a big fight in Newcastle].”
Though Eubank claims this to be his 147-lb debut, he did have some fights earlier in his career where he came in at or around the weight. For the last few years, however, he has been campaigning at super lightweight. This fight against Erdogan marks his return to welterweight after coming down in 2019.
Neither man is known for their punching power, so expect this bout to go the distance. According to The Argus article linked earlier, Eubank has had a number of fights fall through this year. He is looking to make a statement in what will likely be his only fight of 2024 before looking for better opponents in 2025. Expect him to dominate against Erdogan and win a wide unanimous decision.
