Riyadh Season boxing continues to deliver some of the most impressive cards the sport has seen in recent memory. Turki Alalshikh recently announced that Devin Haney will face Brian Norman Jr, while David Benavidez will take on Anthony Yarde on a yet-to-be-confirmed date in November. His Excellency has now revealed another major addition to the card: Abdullah Mason will face Sam Noakes for the vacant WBO lightweight title.
The November Riyadh Season boxing card was already looking impressive with Yarde vs Benavidez and Haney vs Norman Jr.
Mason vs Noakes has now been added to the bill. They will collide for the vacant WBO title, which was previously held by Keyshawn Davis, who was stripped after failing to make weight for his scheduled defence against Edwin De Los Santos.
Mason (19-0, 17 KOs) has been dominant in his career to date, though he did face early trouble in the first round against Yohan Vasquez.
Known for his speed and punching power, Mason has scored impressive wins over Manuel Jaimes and Mike Ohan Jr. A fight against Noakes will be a step up for the American.
Likewise, this is a step up for Noakes (17-0, 15 KOs), whose best wins have come against Lewis Sylvester and Ryan Walsh. The Brit is a relentless pressure fighter, but doesn’t rush forward. He picks his attacks well and throws with vicious intent.
The Riyadh Season boxing card in November looks strong with three major fights already confirmed, and more expected to be announced soon. With several impressive events lined up in the coming months, the end of the boxing year is starting to take shape.
Looking at the two styles, Mason vs Noakes should be an entertaining watch.
