Talking to Matchroom Boxing, he opened up about his lifelong dream to fight the best boxers the sport offers. Moreover, he revealed that he looks forward to fighting a boxer of Crawford’s caliber. “When I received the news that I would be making my first world title defense against Terence Crawford, I was very happy. Let’s go! I am ready all of the time,” he said. “He doesn’t have any weaknesses. I haven’t seen any of those, but I will try to discover some.”
Meanwhile, Madrimov expressed confidence in his skillset as a dominating figure in the super welterweight division. The boxer from Khiva, who was last seen showcasing an impressive performance in March, wishes to make a statement by recreating the magic against Crawford. “He’s moving up in weight. I’m the world champion here, and I don’t think about him. I think about myself and I think about accomplishing my goals and winning this fight. It’s a huge honor and opportunity for me to show my skills, and I want to win this fight in style,” he said.
Madrimov added that he has always been a fan of Crawford and his boxing style. However, he hopes to become the first man to beat ‘Bud’ and break all his records.
Madrimov certainly has set the bar high for his future fights following the Crawford showdown. Sticking true to his dream of fighting the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing, he opened up about his desire to potentially face Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in the future.
