Jake Paul appears to have ended his years-long feud with Floyd Mayweather that dates back to pandemic times.
Controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul infamously sparked a brawl at the press conference for Mayweather’s exhibition with Logan Paul in the summer of 2021. The younger sibling grabbed the iconic boxing champion’s hat from his head, leading to a furious exchange.
Since then, the pair have had their run-ins over the years, most infamously at a basketball game when Paul had to flee from his rival’s team. He has since claimed, however, that the video was pre-planned with team Mayweather.
After almost half a decade of bad blood, it seems that Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather have finally put their differences behind them. At least, that’s what it would appear from a video leaked by Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions yesterday.
The footage shows the pair in France on vacation, and they look to be in good spirits as they chat to one another away from security. Mayweather appears to be covering himself in a towel, while Paul soaks in the sun and speaks to the boxing legend.
Fans in the comment section joked that Mayweather looked like he was trying to ‘protect his hat’, harkening back to their old viral moment. Indeed, over the years they have both talked about the potential of an exhibition bout, although it has never come to fruition.
The feud between Paul and Mayweather was brewing before the press conference in 2021, but that day at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium certainly drove it over the edge. Throughout the media section itself, the younger sibling goaded the boxing legend along with his older brother.
He messed with Mayweather’s shoes and shouted at the stage, but things got even more heated when they came face-to-face during post-event scrums. As the rivals jawed at one another, Paul removed Mayweather’s cap, leading to an all-out brawl between the two teams.
Paul almost immediately began to sell merchandise about the incident, which garnered tens of millions of views. But things did end up becoming serious, with both Paul brothers employing full-time security shortly after the incident.
Logan Paul ended up going the distance with Mayweather in a bout that had no scores, meaning there was no winner or loser.
