Jake Paul’s promotion has produced a touching gesture following the tragic news.
Last month, Paul was defeated by Anthony Joshua in their blockbuster bout on Netflix from the Kaseya Center in Miami.
Many raised concerns ahead of the matchup regarding the health of ‘The Problem Child’, who did suffer some significant injuries in his knockout loss.
Any plans following December 19 were put on hold following the news that Joshua was injured in a serious car crash while travelling in Nigeria.
The former two-time heavyweight champion’s last opponent has now gone out of his way to pay respect to the victims of the incident.
While Anthony Joshua was discharged from hospital and able to continue recovering from home days after the crash, the impact of the incident was far worse than this.
Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, who were personal trainers and strength coaches to ‘AJ’ were killed after the Lexus jeep they were traveling in collided with a stationary truck.
Joshua’s driver has since been charged with four offenses as updates continue to come in regarding what happened.
After hearing about the news, Jake Paul sent a message of support to Joshua and anyone impacted by the accident.
The promotion that he co-founded, Most Valuable Promotions, then unveiled a tribute to Ayodele and Ghami ahead of their event in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
MVP’s social media platforms posted the following statement after unveiling that both men’s names will be either side of the promotion’s logo in the middle of the ring on Saturday night.
“Tonight we honor two extraordinary young men who have impacted many lives and helped create one of the greatest boxers of all time. This is for Team Anthony Joshua. With respect, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. Thank you for helping MVP put on a massive event. You will be remembered, always.”
MVP is kicking 2026 off with an event from the Coliseo Robert Clemente on Saturday, January 3.
In the main event, Amanda Serrano defends her unified WBO and WBA featherweight belts against Reina Tellez.
The co-main event sees former UFC champion Holly Holm looking to add another boxing belt to her collection when she challenges Stephanie Han for the WBA lightweight belt.
Elsewhere on the card is Ebanie Bridges, who takes on Alexis Mones at 118 pounds.
