Jake Paul is finally ranked in the cruiserweight division. This actually has some significance because at this point Paul can fight for a title. The scenario of Paul being a world champion is certainly on the table and would be an absolute nightmare for any boxer. That a YouTuber can come out of nowhere and win a title from their sport.

That’s a major development in Jake Paul’s boxing career. After years of criticism for fighting mostly non-boxers or aging MMA fighters, getting a win over a legitimate former world champion like Julio César Chávez Jr. gives him the credibility he’s long been chasing. Being ranked #14 by the WBA is no small feat, it officially puts him in the mix for potential title contention, at least within the organization.

Paul is now eligible to challenge WBA cruiserweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez for a world championship. The same Ramirez who fought on his undercard this past weekend. It looks like this match up could already be in the works.

Marketing juggernaut

Jake Paul did mention that he wants tougher fights. He has no choice but to have tougher fights with him wanting to be a world champion. But he can use fighters names to draw in crowds and generate big money. The most underrated ability in Jake Paul is his marketing. He’s great at it and you will tune in to watch him lose and say that you told him so and that he’s was a bum and he should stick to YouTube. Jake Paul is winning!
