Jake Paul has created a niche for himself in the boxing arena. Love him or hate him, the YouTuber has opened professional fighting up to a whole new segment of audience. He draws his fans from across the divide. Jake Paul is believed to be setting his eyes on some of the biggest stars in the sport. The latest is former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
AJ phoned Jake Paul after the YouTube icon called him out for a bout and a probable clash in 2026. Jake Paul blasted Anthony Joshua and promised to knock out the former heavyweight world champion. Paul moved up to heavyweight in his last bout. He has expressed confidence of beating AJ.
"I will beat Canelo, I will beat a lot of f***ing people - I will not beat David Benavidez. I would get torn up, bro. This guy's different," he said on his YouTube channel.
Immediately after his unanimous points victory over the legendary Mike Tyson, Jake Paul called out pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez whilst a heavyweight contest against two-time world titlist Anthony Joshua or even reigning IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois could be on the cards for next year. Taking on any of these present or former world titlte-holders would signify Jake Paul’s biggest challenge to date and Paul’s team are alleged to be in discussions with Anthony Joshua’s representatives.
Paul proposed of a bout with AJ next year after posting a picture with Joshua on the phone.
"Look who called. 2026 @anthonyjoshua," Paul wrote on social media page.
"I want to fight Anthony Joshua - exclusive - because I know I will f***ing beat Anthony Joshua's ass,” said Paul on his YouTube channel.
"He doesn't have a chin, and he has no skill and he's stiff. I love you Anthony, we're friends, all this s*** but I want to fight you,” he said.
AJ replied by ringing up Jake Paul and both boxers posted pictures of the phone call with the caption 2026, teasing a probable contest sometime next year. AJ has not fought since his humiliating defeat to Daniel Dubois September last year, yet, he remains one of the biggest players in the sport.
The Briton boxer was anticipated to face off with Tyson Fury this year, however, the Gypsy King declared his retirement from boxing after he was defeated in his rematch with the Ukrainian’s Oleksandr Usyk in December.
Whereas boxing purists would loathe the thought of a former world title-holder of Joshua’s standard succumbing to the immense riches a bout against Jake Paul would command, the money certainly could prove too much to reject for a boxer many believe is giving an impression of decline.
It is not the first time a clash between Paul alongside Joshua has been mooted, with the YouTuber's promoter Nakisa Bidarian initiating the discussions to a likely faceoff back in November.
Jake Paul’s fight with Mike Tyson attracted 70,000 audience packed into the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Further, it was followed with more than 100 million viewers streaming the event on Netflix across the globe. The legendary ‘Iron Mike’ 58, is believed to have bagged $20 million from the bout.
