Jake Paul Vs. Gervonta Davis Is Off – What’s Next?

The November 14 Netflix exhibition headlined by Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis has been officially canceled.

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) announced the decision following the Tank Davis civil lawsuit, which contained allegations of violence and battery against his ex, with other claims such as kidnapping, and false imprisonment. It is believed that caused Netflix to withdraw, as there were reports that tickets were also struggling to sell.

Paul’s team have been linked with numerous names for replacements. Ryan Garcia was reportedly contacted, but Oscar De La Hoya dismissed that due to contractual differences. Ryan boxed on DAZN, while Jake is on Netflix. Garcia is also close to facing WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios. Meanwhile, Ngannou ruled out the fight, stating they could not go to him as a fallback option following the failure of the Tank fight.

“Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly. While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025. Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership,” Nakisa Bidarian (CEO of Most Valuable Promotions).

Other Options

Anthony Joshua could become a key target. AJ has not boxed since Daniel Dubois stopped him in September 2024. Eddie Hearn has said that AJ will box this year, stating that they are willing to face Paul if an offer is presented. However, securing the bout is contingent on navigating the broadcast exclusivity, as AJ fights on DAZN.

Similarly, Terence Crawford was reportedly contacted. While Crawford represents the most competitively challenging option, securing him would depend entirely on whether the high-profile, record-setting Netflix payday could lure him into the crossover space, despite the significant size disparity.

Failing to secure an in-prime boxing champion, the most likely next opponents for Jake Paul come from the MMA world. The most logical and easily executable option is a rematch with Nate Diaz. The former UFC superstar and Paul’s 2023 opponent makes perfect sense, as they have already established the necessary business relationship, and Diaz has actively called for a second bout.
