Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Headlines Intriguing Night of Boxing With Two More Fights Added to the Card

Jake Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) and Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) will face off on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The card will stream exclusively on Netflix, with the highly anticipated co-main event of Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) vs. Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs) taking place. It has now been announced that two more fights have been added to the card.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: Two More Fights Added

Floyd Schofield vs. Ashton Sylve

Two highly regarded prospects will clash on the Paul-Tyson undercard with Ashton Sylve (11-0, 9 KOs) and Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield (17-0, 12 KOs) facing off in a 10-round contest, with both fighters eager to move onto the next stage of their career.

Sylve is a highly regarded prospect from Pauls’s Most Valuable Promotions stable. His last fight was in February when he comfortably outpointed Brazil’s Estivan Falcao, with the judges scorecards reading 100-89 and 99-90 x2. He is a clever boxer, progressing with every fight, developing an effective jab while improving his head movement. “I can’t wait to step into the ring with ‘Kid Austin,” said Sylve.

“Kid Austen” is a step up in class for the Long Beach native. Schofield was last seen defeating Esteuri Suero in the fifth round of their lightweight bout – retaining his WBA International title. The fight was frustrating for “Kid Austen” as his opponent was disqualified for continuous low blows. 

Before this, he won 16 in a row, showcasing his “devastating power in both hands.” Both clearly have plenty of ability, with Schofield seemingly further along in his development. A win on July 20 will propel the winner onto bigger fights, while the loser will have to re-group.

Speaking on being added to the bill: “I’ve worked super hard to get to fights like these, and now it’s time to show what I got. I step into that ring undefeated, and I will leave undefeated. H2O may doubt me, but he’ll soon realize he is facing an unstoppable force. This is my moment, and I look forward to showing the world what Kid Austin is capable of, Schofield said.”

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr vs. Darren Till

Former UFC welterweight start Darren Till will make his boxing debut in an intriguing encounter against former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (53-6-1, 34 KOs) The fight will be at the cruiserweight limit over six rounds. 

Till, who mixed at the highest level in UFC, spoke on the announcement of the fight: “I’m very happy with my opponent,” Till said via statement. “I’ve been a fan of his father for many years and I’ve been a fan of Chavez Jr. too — he is a great fighter who I respect, but make no mistake about it, I am coming to knock him out in the first round. I am happy with where I am in life, and I am coming to make a statement on July 20th in Texas.”

Chavez is the son of legendary Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., and despite becoming a world champion, he has struggled to escape his father’s shadow. Chavez will be hoping for better luck this time against an ex-UFC star, after losing to Anderson Silva last time, via split decision in December 2021. The Mexican also spoke on the upcoming fight: 

“I’m excited to return to the ring after some time off, and I’m motivated and eager to reestablish myself as one of the greats,” said Chavez. “I was the first Mexican middleweight champion in the history of Mexico and want to prove that I can again become a champion. My return to the ring at this historic event is an honor. On Saturday, July 20, I’m going to win by KO and continue my journey.”
