Miller (26-1-2, 22 KOs) was initially set to face WBA interim champion Fabio Wardley on June 7 in Ipswich, England. But withdrew a month earlier due to a shoulder injury suffered in training. The 37-year-old then appeared on track for a clash with Anderson. As teased by Riyadh Season head Turki Alalshikh, but that bout failed to materialize.
Since then, Miller has been vocal in calling out top heavyweights. Criticizing the likes of Deontay Wilder and Anderson, and seeking a high-profile fight to end his year-long layoff. His last outing was a 12-round majority draw with former unified champion Andy Ruiz on the Crawford Israil Madrimov undercard in August 2024.
Miller will now face Michael Hunter (No. 1 WBA, No. 7 IBF), a skilled contender whose best career work came at cruiserweight. Hunter challenged Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO title in April 2017, losing a competitive 12-round decision after being floored in the final round.
Since moving to heavyweight, the Las Vegas native (24-1, 17 KOs). Has shown flashes of elite form but has struggled to secure consistent fights against top opposition. His September meeting with Miller will be his first appearance of 2025, following sporadic bouts in Mexico and the United States since 2021.
With both fighters in their late 30s. Are eager to stay relevant in a crowded heavyweight picture. This clash could serve as a make or break moment for their championship aspirations.
