Joe Joyce To Battle Fellow Countryman Derek Chisora
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Not too long ago, Joe Joyce was a undefeated heavyweight prospect that was on the verge of a title shot. That momentum came to a halt when he faced. Zhilei Zhang. Joyce (16-2, 15 KOs) went on to suffer back-to-back knockout defeats by Zhang and had a fall front the top of the heavyweight rankings. Joyce looks to get back on track by fighting veteran Derek Chisora (34-13, 23 KO’s) at London’s O2 Arena on July 27.

Undoubtedly this fight is a must win for both fighters. Whoever is the loser in this bout will most likely never get back in contention for a title shot again. Making his return to the ring in March, Joyce beat Kash Ali by a 10th-round knockout. Despite the KO, Joyce didn’t look that great but to his credit he did close out the show. Chisora, 40, last fought in August 2023, defeating Gerald Washington in London by Unanimous decision.

Promoter is excited and eager for the winner

“This is a proper old school heavyweight fight that seems to have been a long time in the making,” promoter Frank Warren said. “I remember it being talked about strongly even before we teamed up with Joe and it has always struck me as a natural and obvious fight to make.”

“Two top London heavies fighting it out for a place back at the top table promises to deliver a cracking scrap. The winner is right back in business, with no real place to go for the loser.”
