On Saturday, April 6, Mexican standout Jimerr Espinosa (15-2, 14 KOs) will take on Angel Martinez (15-3-2, 14 KOs) in the 10-round main event at Sala Urbana in Naucalpan, Mexico. The main event and undercard is promoted by Miura Boxing and will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+.

Jimerr Espinosa vs. Angel Martinez

Espinosa and Martinez Career Recapped

Espinosa will look to bounce back from his split-decision defeat to Delante Johnson on December 9, 2023. The 26-year-old raced to 11-0, with ten KOs at the beginning of his career, before a split-decision loss to Jonathan Escobedo Martinez. “Mortero” has proven his punching power, as he rebounded following that first loss with a four-fight knockout streak before the narrow defeat to the U.S. Olympian Johnson.

Espinosa showed his ring IQ against Jonson, an impressive counterpuncher, by hitting him with the overhand right, causing the American problems. It was a back-and-forth battle over the eight rounds – which split the judges, with Johnson earning the victory. His next opponent will be fellow Mexican Angel Martinez, who has also shown plenty of power throughout his career, with 14 KOs from 15 fights.

Martinez will be eager to bounce back to form after losing his last fight to David Moreno Potrero last April by unanimous decision.

Big Fight Weekend Prediction

When two Mexicans meet in the ring, it almost certainly brings plenty of fireworks. Despite losing his last fight, there are plenty of positives from his performance against Johnson. At Big Fight Weekend, we are backing Jimerr Espinosa to win by stoppage somewhere in round four-six, with his shot selection and power being too much for his fellow Mexican.
