Jutta Leerdam topped her 2022 performance by winning the gold medal in the 1,000 meters event at the 2026 Winter Olympics, then added a silver in the 500 meters for good measure.
The Dutch speed skating star turned heads at the Winter Games in Milan with a record time of 1:12.31 to secure the gold, her second medal of the quadrennial event. She previously won silver in the women’s 1,000 meters at the 2022 Beijing Games.
She now has three Olympic medals to her name after following up her gold-medal victory with a silver finish in the 500 meters. Fellow Dutch skater Femke Kok clocked 36.49 seconds to win the event, while Leerdam finished 0.66 seconds behind.
Leerdam is not losing sleep over falling short in the 500 meters. She said her teammate deserved the win and described her silver medal as the cherry on top of her 1,000-meter triumph.
“She deserves it, for sure. She’s super good in the 500,” Leerdam said.
“Silver in the 500 is such a win for me. I already felt complete after the win in the 1,000 — and now I have this one.”
Her happiness was evident both on the podium and on social media. The 27-year-old Dutch star took to Instagram to show off her two medals alongside her partner, Jake Paul, who is in Milan to witness her growing legacy.
The pair shared a kiss as they danced to Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, with Leerdam waving her wares.
Leerdam and Paul have been together since 2023 and got engaged in 2025. Paul, a fixture in celebrity boxing, was there this time to support his fiancée at her sporting event.
