Richardson Hitchins and George Kambosos Jr. held their kick-off presser before their June 14 clash on June 14.
Hitchins is the current IBF Junior Welterweight Champion, a belt he acquired after beating Liam Paro in his last bout. The unanimous decision win took his record to 19-0, solidifying his position as one of the leading 140-pounders in the division. He was linked with a unification against the WBO Junior Welterweight Champion Teofimo Lopez. The fight did not happen after The Takeover chose to box Jose Ramirez instead.

Kambosos gets a world title shot after just one fight at 140. He signed with Matchroom Boxing after moving up from 135. He faced off against Jake Wyllie in his last fight, as he secured a win. Kambosos is the former Unified Lightweight Champion, as he now has the chance to become a two-division champion. A win also sets up a possible Australian domestic clash against Paro, or a rematch with Lopez, having beaten him the first time around. Kambosos warned Hitchins he was ready to make a statement.
“I’m a true warrior as I was saying before to Hitchins. He’s so caught up on being 19-0. F*** the zero. I’d rather lose my zero to Haney and Lomachenko, fighting the best of the best, because I know what kind of a true champion I am. That’s what the fans want. That’s what the media wants. The zero doesn’t matter. If we get the best fights happening now, who is going to be the winners? The fans, the media, the boxing, the sport, and the fighters because they’re going to be wanting to take a chance and fight the best,” Kambosos said
