Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano: Preview & Betting Tips
Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images

After two legendary encounters, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are set to complete one of boxing’s great trilogies in a bout that promises to be just as good as the first two.

Taylor (24-1, 6 KO’s) remains unbeaten at lightweight, and her confidence is high after avenging her lone professional loss to Chantelle Cameron. However, at nearly 40, questions linger about how long she can maintain her relentless pace and razor-sharp reflexes.

Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KO’s), meanwhile, has dominated everyone not named Katie Taylor. Her victories over top contenders like Erika Cruz and Danila Ramos have come with ease. She’s looked sharper, more defensively responsible, and more selective in her work over the last few years.

Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano: Analysis

Their first bout at Madison Square Garden in April 2022 was an instant classic. Serrano had Taylor in deep waters during the middle rounds, but Taylor rallied late and edged a split decision.

The rematch, in November 2024 at AT&T Stadium, saw Taylor make subtle but significant adjustments. She used more lateral movement and more disciplined counters to combat Serrano’s aggression and volume, and would eventually earn a unanimous decision win.

Even though the Irish superstar is 2-0 against Serrano, there are arguably more question marks surrounding her entering this fight than Serrano. Simply because she is edging closer to 40 years of age, so fans are now wondering if her main attributes, speed and reflexes, have begun to decline. If that is the case then she may be a sitting duck against Serrano, who will push a very aggressive and powerful pace all night.

Taylor vs Serrano: Prediction & Betting Tips

Serrano has proven she can hang with Taylor in every department, and some believe she deserved the nod in their first bout. The second fight was close too. So with Taylor being 39 now, it’s understandable why Serrano has become the betting favourite.

The Puerto Rican is hungry for redemption and, “who wants it more” may simply be the deciding factor in this one. A Taylor win will likely signal the end of an outstanding career which is more than just a boxing legacy; she’s inspired girls in the British Isles to pick up a pair of boxing gloves.

However, I am backing Amanda Serrano in this one as I just feel like the fighting pride of Ireland may be running out of steam. Serrano has hurt Taylor a number of times across the first two fights, but she’s been unable to really capitalise on this due to Taylor’s grit and toughness. I actually like the price of Katie Taylor to be knocked down at odds of 4.33.
