Liam Paro, the ex-IBF junior welterweight champion, faces David Papot on September 18, as we preview this fight.
Paro is moving up to welterweight, having recently campaigned at 140. He won the belt at 140 by beating Subriel Matias, only to lose it to Richardson Hitchens. Paro bounced back from that loss by beating Jonathan Navarro in June, as he now chases a title at 147. Meanwhile, Papot is undefeated with a 30-0-1 record. He only has 5 KOs to his name, meaning he is not the biggest puncher. However, he did stop Josh Wagner in his last fight.
“Liam Paro has arrived and this fight is going to be electric. He’s charging back to the top with this massive world title eliminator in his new weight class. He asked us for the biggest fight we could make – and it doesn’t get bigger than a world title eliminator in Queensland, in front of a packed home crowd. Liam’s not just chasing big fights, he wins them. That’s why this one’s so exciting, because it’s the start of another huge chapter for him,” George Rose (No Limit CEO) said
“One hundred per cent, I’ve grown up. It just happens … with a young family and more on the table. “The fun will always be there, but will be more fun with chips stacked in the bank and as a multiple world champion. “And now we’re in fight week it’s, ‘Eat, breath, sleep, s**t boxing,” Paro stated
“[Paro is] Nothing special. I don’t know a lot about Liam Paro, other than that he’s a great fighter, former world champ, with quick hands. I’m a very complete fighter. I can go to war if necessary, I’m ready for everything. I’ve been fighting since I was five. Liam’s in his hometown, he wants to shine, it’s normal,” Papot said
