Floyd Mayweather will reportedly be ringside for Manny Pacquiao’s fight with Mario Barrios

Pacquiao makes his return on July 19 to fight Barrios for the latter’s WBC belt. Pacman will be 46 years old as he seeks to roll back the years. Pacquiao’s last pro fight was a 2021 loss to Yordenis Ugas, while his last win was a 2019 victory against Keith Thurman. Mayweather and Pacquiao shared a huge rivalry before they faced off in 2015.

Mayweather won a unanimous decision, as Pacquiao failed to deliver on the biggest stage. The Filipino claimed he had a shoulder problem entering into this fight, as he later underwent rotator cuff surgery. Despite talk of a rematch, it never happened. Pacman had previously announced a rematch at a RIZN event, only for Mayweather to dismiss that.

Will It Happen?

“When Manny Pacquiao spoke about that, he shouldn’t have, because there is a time and a place for everything. I’m not going to say that he is right and I’m not going to say that he is wrong, but it is so crazy because when he spoke about it, I could’ve easily come out and said ‘yeah’.

“You spoke about it, so I didn’t have to say nothing. Just by you saying my name, they gave me a cheque for four million [dollars]. “He said my name when he wasn’t supposed to. “Remember, he got famous because they said that this could be the guy to possibly dethrone the king. Did it happen? Absolutely not. Was it easy? Absolutely,” Mayweather said

And yet, Mayweather’s reported appearance has led to speculation that he could face off against Manny if the latter becomes champion. The fight would be huge, with a world title on the line. Mayweather has stayed active since his retirement, having had numerous exhibitions. His last exhibition was a rematch against John Gotti III last year. However, Mayweather would have to consider this carefully, as he would risk losing his undefeated 50-0 record, something which has been vital for his brand.
