Mike Tyson has never lacked confidence and as he looks ahead to a planned March exhibition bout with Floyd Mayweather, the former heavyweight king believes the outcome will be definitive. Speaking recently with Hard Rock Bet, Tyson made it clear he’s not viewing the matchup as a friendly exhibition.

“Floyd wanted to fight me … it looks like he’s going to get knocked out,” Tyson said. “It’s going to supersede all the fights and all the glory he had before this. This is taking boxing to a new level. Almost God status.”

The bout, expected to take place in Africa, would pit two of the most iconic fighters in boxing history against each other in a spectacle that once seemed unimaginable — especially given their contrasting styles, eras, and weight classes.

Tyson Aims for Redemption After Jake Paul Loss

Tyson, now 59, is coming off a difficult outing against Jake Paul in November 2024, a fight that was officially ruled a loss on his professional record. In the lead-up to that bout, Tyson revealed he was dealing with a severe medical issue that nearly derailed him entirely.

“I lost half my blood,” Tyson said previously, referencing a dangerous ulcer flare-up. “I almost died.”

Despite the setback, Tyson insists he’s entering this new chapter healthier, wiser, and more composed.

“I feel good right now. This is the best I’ve felt,” Tyson said. “I can’t wait to start getting in the ring, I learned a lot from my last fight I left a lot of my fight in the gym. I worked too hard, I was too intense, I was too extreme, I need to relax more.”

Tyson believes dialing back the intensity rather than trying to overwhelm himself physically will allow him to perform at a higher level this time around.
