On November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) will return to the ring to face Jake Paul (10-1, 7 KOs) in an eight x2 minute rounds contest. The Texas State Athletic Commission have mandated the use of 10-ounce gloves and no headgear with the entire card streamed live across the globe on Netflix. As we build up to this intriguing bout, Jeff Fenech who trained Mike Tyson before his last fight against Kevin McBride in 2005 has spoken to Mirror Fighting and revealed some key insights to consider ahead of November 15.
Fenech has plenty of experience in the boxing world having won world titles in three weight divisions, before later going on to coach Tyson at the backend of his career. The Australian guided the fearsome Brooklyn fighter before his 2005 contest against McBride.
Tyson is currently the underdog with most bookmakers and will likely enter the ring as the outsider to win. Despite his advancing years, the Brooklyn-born fighter was once the most dangerous heavyweight on the planet. His ex-trainer Jeff Fenech has revealed that he believes “Iron Mike” is more than capable of defeating “The Problem Child.”
Speaking to Mirror Fighting, the Australian said: “If Mike concentrates and makes him miss, and then makes him pay, that’s what Mike’s an expert in, he’s got great head movement.” He continued: “If he does that in 30 seconds, the fight could be over in 30 seconds.”
Looking at the ability of Paul, Fenech said: “Jake Paul doesn’t have the skill, the boxing knowledge. I’ve watched him, but anyone can punch a pad or a bag or someone who really can’t fight.”
