At the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on November 15, Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) and Jake Paul (10-1, 7 KOs) will meet in an eagerly anticipated eight-round heavyweight contest. The Texas State Athletic Commission havemandated 10-ounce gloves and no headgear for the main event. The entire card will stream live across the globe on Netflix. The undercard has some intriguing bouts including Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano II, and Lucas Bahdi (17-0, 15 KOs) was set to face Corey Marksman, but as reported by Chris Mannix at Sports Illustrated, Marksman has picked up an injury and will be replaced by Armando Casamonica (14-0, 3 KOs).
Tyson-Paul has received plenty of criticism, but it’s difficult to deny the intrigue the main event provides. However, many outlets have reported the ticket prices for the event have plummeted which has added to the detractor’s argument that this fight should not be happening.
One of the undercard bouts was set to be the big punching Canadian Lucas Bahdi vs. Corey Marksman (10-0-1, 7 KOs). With the American now ruled out, Bahdi will face another undefeated fighter in Casamonica. The Italian will be fighting for the first time outside of Italy and has spoken about the opportunity to appear on the Paul-Tyson undercard: “It’s an immense honor to represent my family and our legacy on the biggest stage in boxing,” said Casamonica. “Boxers dream of nights like this—fighting under the lights at AT&T Stadium, in front of millions of fans around the world, including my fans at home in Italy, on Netflix. Thank you to MVP for this opportunity, I’m bringing everything I’ve got to this fight, and Lucas Bahdi better be ready because history meets destiny on Friday, November 15.”
Bahdi has also reacted to the late opponent change: “Undefeated fighters always fight hard to protect their records and I expect that Armando Casamonica will do that. But I’m also undefeated and will fight even harder than him. I can’t wait to put on a show on November 15.”
