Moses Itauma is set to face Dillian Whyte on August 16th in Saudi Arabia in his toughest fight to date.
Moses Itauma is scheduled to face former interim world champion and household name heavyweight, Dillian Whyte, in a matter of weeks, in what will be, on paper, his toughest match to date.
Itauma has been on a dominant run, though fans have been pining for better opposition for the young talent, who has been touted by many as the next Mike Tyson.
Just last year, before his wins over Mariusz Wach, Demsey McKean, and Mike Balogun, Itauma defeated the son of the man who sent Tyson Fury‘s father, John Fury, into retirement for good.
In March last year, Itauma, 7-0, was matched against 6-2 Brit, Dan Garber.
Garber had lost only to Lamah Griggs, who recently lost to Tony Yoka, Anthony Joshua’s potential next opponent, and Thomas Carty, who lost for the first time against a huge heavyweight.
Itauma made light work of Garber, dispatching him in just one round.
Years before their fight, Garber’s father, Steve Garber, 19-23-1, handed John Fury the most devastating loss of his career, folding him in the fourth round of what would end up being his final fight, as the KO sent him into retirement.
Fury retired in 1995 with a record of 8-4-1, much unlike his son, who went on to reach the highest heights of boxing with wins over Dillian Whyte and Wladimir Klitschko.
Lawrence Okolie predicts Itauma will KO Whyte, whilst Whyte’s former foe, Dave Allen, thinks Itauma is all wrong for Whyte.
Whyte’s former coach, Mark Tibbs, also favors Itauma over Whyte in the upcoming match-up.
The boxing world seems to be making Itauma a huge favorite in the upcoming fight with Whyte, though Whyte’s recent weight loss has fans shocked, and sure he is going to turn up to fight.
With the fight landing in a matter of weeks, it is worth comparing both men, to see how much of a chance either fighter has.
