Oleksandr Usyk targets Deontay Wilder for final fight

Oleksandr Usyk says plans are taking shape for his final professional boxing match.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion told Daily Mail's "The Hook" podcast that he expects to retire after one more marquee bout, likely in the United States against a high-profile opponent. Deontay Wilder has emerged as the leading candidate, according to Usyk's team director Sergey Lapin, per Sherdog. The fight could land at the end of 2026 or in early 2027.

Zuffa Boxing in the mix for Usyk farewell

Usyk confirmed that Dana White's Zuffa Boxing is among the promotional options being explored. "It could be Zuffa, but now I don't think about boxing. I think about training for boxing," he said. When pressed on a venue, the Ukrainian suggested a stadium in New York as a possible location for the bout.

The 39-year-old last fought in April, defeating Rico Verhoeven to remain unbeaten as a professional. Wilder, a former WBC heavyweight champion, would provide the big-name sendoff Usyk is seeking after a career that included undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight titles.

Usyk added that timing remains fluid but a December date is possible. His team is reportedly finalizing details with multiple promotional groups interested in hosting the fight.
