Prior to the main event of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois 2, FightsATW brings you the undercard results.
Lawrence Okolie and Kevin Lerena went the full ten rounds with the WBC silver title on the line. Okolie (22-1, 16 KOs) was largely in control throughout the contest. The judges scored: 100-90 x2 and 99-91. Lerena (31-4, 15 KOs) is the current WBC bridgerweight world champion but has struggled when moving up to the heavyweight division. His last three fights in the division were all losses, including those against Justis Huni and Daniel Dubois .
Ukrainian light heavyweight Daniel Lapin sneaked a majority-decision victory against Southampton’s Lewis Edmondson, claiming regional titles with the WBO and IBF. Lapin (12-0, 4 KOs) looked to be feeling the pace in the eighth round as Edmondson (11-1, 3 KOs) nearly knocked/pushed him over the rope on two occasions. However, the judges gave Lapin the decision with two scores of 96-94 and one score of 95-95.
England’s Solomon Dacres outwitted Ukrainian heavyweight Vlad Sirenko. The judges gave Dacres (10-1, 3 KOs) the clear victory with scores of 98-92, 99-92, and 99-91. Sirenko (22-1, 19 KOs) was recently signed to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, but looked well short of the level to compete at a high level at heavyweight. Dacres came in as a late replacement for Ukraine’s Andrii Novytskyi.
Georgia’s Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Lasha Guruli retired Liverpool’s James Francis at the start of the fifth round at super lightweight. Guruli’s record improves to (2-0) whilst also claiming his first stoppage victory. Francis (7-2) received his first defeat by stoppage.
