The undisputed heavyweight title will be on the line Saturday night at Wembley Stadium in London, U.K. Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) will face IBF champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) in a much-anticipated rematch of their August 2023 fight.

Their first match had the highly debated low blow that caused Usyk to take a knee, sparking a debate on social media with zoomed-in video footage and different angles. It was the type of analysis that those who watch the drama series CSI would be proud of. Usyk would stop Dubois in the ninth round of their fight, but all the chatter was about the low blow. Now, almost two years later, they get to do it again, hoping that this time, no such controversy will surround the overall outlook of the fight.

Oleksandr Usyk = Living Legend

As serious as Usyk can be in the ring when he puts together master classes of boxing, it’s the little jokes or antics he does outside of the ring that allow his effortless connection with fight fans to happen. Who could forget when he creeped up behind Top Rank’s Bob Arum during an in-ring post-fight interview with that devilish smile of his or any of the Tyson Fury press conferences. Usyk’s unique sense of humor has made him a very likable figure among fans, and it has raised his profile considerably. It also doesn’t hurt that inside the ring, he’s had pound-for-pound performances, making it that much easier to follow him.

When you look back at Usyk’s heavyweight legacy, the Anthony Joshua and Fury fights will be the ones that define it. It was during those fights that he showed even higher pedigree of boxing as the level of competition increased. Although his opponents considerably outweighed him, Usyk still put on a dominant performances, proving that he deserves all of the accolades he’s received.

Now he’s fighting Dubois for a second time, and although some may think he will look less dominant, I think the opposite will occur. Usyk got a good look at Dubois in their 2023 fight, but also in Dubois’ subsequent fights as Usyk sat ringside. Usyk knows what to expect, and he will execute his game plan come fight night behind that right jab and outstanding footwork. There is no need for him to try to make it into a slugfest, as he can beat Dubois with his footwork alone.

Daniel Dubois’ Recent Run Has Been Nothing Short of Great

When Dubois became a pro in 2017, many in the U.K. deemed him the guy who would replace Joshua as the top guy. And things were trending in that direction until he faced Joe Joyce in November 2020 during the Pandemic. Dubois took a knee in the tenth round of their fight as his orbital bone was broken, and he could barely see out of his eye. It was a significant setback, and fans didn’t think he could recover from it.

Dubois would win four in a row after that night, but in the fifth fight, he would lose to Usyk. Now, Dubois has won three consecutive fights and will face Usyk again, hoping to change the outcome and potentially force a trilogy.

How does Dubois do it? Pressure. Dubois has to use his left jab to the body and head of Usyk to make his way in. Once he is, Dubois needs to concentrate on the body of Usyk throughout the first half of the fight to slow him down. If he can do that, then Dubois can go for the head shots that landed on Joshua during their September fight, leading to a late stoppage. With Dubois riding this momentum wave, can he stay disciplined enough to beat one of the best in boxing?

OLEKSANDR USYK VS DANIEL DUBOIS 2 PREDICTIONS

As much of a run that Dubois has been, Usyk is just at another level, and Saturday will show just that. Usyk will put on a masterclass en route to a 12-round unanimous decision to once again claim the title of undisputed heavyweight champion.
