On the undercard of Isaac Cruz vs Lamont Roach, O’Shaquie Foster vs Stephen Fulton was set to take place with Foster’s WBC super featherweight title on the line.
The entire card will take place at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. Following the news of Janibek Alimkhanuly testing positive for Meldonium, as per Carlos Linares, Stephen Fulton has missed weight, meaning he can no longer win the WBC 130-pound World Title.
Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) was bidding to become a three-division titleholder. The Philadelphia fighter missed weight, coming in at 132 pounds on his second attempt. This means the WBC super featherweight title will not be available to him, even if he defeats Foster (23-3, 12 KOs). Foster’s WBC world title will now become vacant if Fulton wins
The fight will still go ahead, with Fulton having to pay the corresponding fine. This is a blow for a card that was just coming to terms with the Janibek situation, and now it’s been hit with this missed weight drama.
This was set up to be one of the most well-rounded fight cards in recent months, before Janibek failed a VADA anti-doping test. He has been replaced by Johan Gonzalez, who will challenge Erislandy Lara for his WBA middleweight title.
