Jake and Logan Paul are no strangers to controversy, but the brothers found themselves on opposite sides of opinion when it came to Sunday’s Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Bad Bunny.
The elder Paul brother took to social media before the game to mention how he was not going to watch the halftime show, then went as far to call Bad Bunny (real name: Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio) “a fake American citizen who publicly hates America.”
Purposefully turning off the halftime show
Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences
(which equals viewership for them)
You are their benefit. Realize you have power.

Readers on social media pointed out the fact that Paul himself has lived in Puerto Rico since 2021.
The younger Paul, who also resides in Puerto Rico, responded quickly on X to his brother’s comments, saying that while he loved hiim, did not agree with his position.
“Puerto Ricans are Americans & I’m happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island,” Logan Paul posted.
I love my brother but I don’t agree with this

After the game, and likely after seeing the backlash on social media from his statement, Jake Paul again addressed the situation, trying to distance and clarify what he said. He claimed his issue was with the criticism Bad Bunny and other have made toward governmental agencies such as ICE.
“[I]f you’re publicly criticizing ICE who are doing their job and openly hating on America, I’m going to speak on it. Period,” he posted early Monday. “If you benefit from a country and the platform it gives you, but publicly disrespect it at the same time, that’s what I mean by being a fake citizen.”
To clarify: I wasn’t calling anyone a “fake citizen” because they’re from Puerto Rico. I live in Puerto Rico, and I love Puerto Rico. I have used my platform to support Puerto Rico time and time again and will always do so.
But if you’re publicly criticizing ICE who are doing…

Paul previously went after U.S. Olympian Hunter Hess after the skier talked about how he wasn’t proud of everything going on in the country.
