Jake Paul is seemingly not short on options for opponents as his win against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. saw him improve his record to 12-1.

The unanimous decision win over the former world champion saw Paul receive a cruiserweight ranking. However, it is unclear who Paul will fight next.

There have been discussions regarding a potential fight between Paul and Anthony Joshua in what could be seen as an unorthodox matchup.

It is understood that a fight between Paul and Joshua would not take place until 2026, meaning the American may look to get another fight in before the end of the year.

One potential opponent could be a fellow young prospect who has garnered plenty of attention.

Callum Walsh is open to Jake Paul fight despite weight difference

Dana White’s boxing prodigy Callum Walsh is another fighter who has made headlines due to his emergence in the sport.

Aged just 24, Walsh has been endorsed by UFC president White over recent years as the super welterweight now has a 12-0 record.

Walsh’s last fight saw him defeat Elias Espadas via technical decision, with no opponent currently booked.

As the Irish fighter continues to improve his status, he may aim to add a notable fighter like Paul to his resume. In an interview with SportsJoe, Walsh was open to the idea of fighting ‘The Problem Child’.

“He’s just so full of —-,” Walsh said. “He’s very smart. He says stuff online, on purpose, knowing people are going to talk about it.”

Despite giving credit to Paul’s marketing skills, Walsh said that the American often says ‘stupid’ things.

In terms of a potential fight, ‘King’ did not seem hesitant in potentially accepting a fight with Paul.

“As if I wouldn’t take the fight because of the weight. Why wouldn’t I? I could train a full camp, with no weight cut… Be as strong as possible and get paid a lot of money to fight him.”

Paul’s last outing was at cruiserweight, as he weighed in at 199.5 lbs. As for Walsh, his last weigh-in result was 154 lbs.

Walsh then described the fight as making ‘perfect sense’ for him. However, Paul has previously disregarded Walsh as an opponent.

Callum Walsh says a fight with him doesn’t make sense for Jake Paul

Despite being open to fighting Paul himself, Walsh feels that the fight would not be logical for the internet star.

“It doesn’t make sense for him,” the Irish fighter said. “If he lost to me, they’d be like, ‘Oh, he’s —-.’ Or, if he loses to a legit boxer, they’ll be like, ‘Oh, you’re done.’ He already fought one boxer and lost.”

Walsh is referring to the sole loss on Paul’s record, where he was bested by Tommy Fury in 2023

In terms of how Walsh would rank Paul’s skillset, the super welterweight contender described him as an ‘average fighter’.
