Caleb Plant and Jose Armando Resendiz held their media workouts ahead of their super middleweight clash this weekend.

Plant defends his WBA Interim Super Middleweight title, which he picked up after knocking out Trevor McCumby. It was not his finest performance, as the former IBF Super Middleweight Champion had to get off the canvas to get the win. However, the win has put him in a mandatory position to face the winner of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, who take on each other for undisputed in September. Resendiz has a 15-2-0 record, with 11 knockouts to his name. He beat Fernando Paliza in his previous fight, which was his third stoppage win out of his last four.

On the same card, Jermall Charlo boxes Thomas LaManna for his first bout at 168. Charlo defeated Jose Benavidez Jr. in 2023 in his previous bout. That was his first fight in over two years after leaving the sport for over two years with mental health struggles. Charlo was stripped of his WBC Middleweight Belt after the Benavidez win, following his arrest for a DWI, as he aims to return to big-time boxing.

LaManna has won his last nine fights, taking his record to 39-5-1. Four of his last fight wins have come by way of knockout. While he is an underdog, LaManna’s last loss was against Erislandy Lara in 2021. Here were the key moments from the workout.

Workouts

“This is one of the best versions of myself. I had a hell of a training camp, and all the experience that I have, it’ll show. Skills and if you check my last fight [Trevor McCumby], I’ve got a great inside game, too. If that’s what he wants, I’m going to show him there are levels. I feel like there are a lot of great fights out there. The Jermall fight, Munguia, Berlanga, Pacheco, Sheeraz, and Mbilli. All those fights are big fights for me. Any one of them could fight each other, and it would not be as big a fight for any one of them if they fought me,” Plant said

“Jermall Charlo is coming back. I’m in way better shape than when I fought [Jose] Benavidez. Stylistically, tactic-wise, LaManna should be a tougher opponent than Benavidez. So, I’ve been focused. I’m sharp, ready. Everything should be good. I’m active. You said I was the best when I was active. Well, I’m back active. I’m more excited than I used to be. It’s not so much nerve-wracking, but I’m ready to put on a show. “I’ll take over the 168-lb division. It’s wide open for me. Y’all got a new contender in the division. The message is Get ready for me. Jermall Charlo. I’m not just coming to win a belt. I want Canelo. I want Plant first, and then maybe Canelo before it’s too late,” Charlo said
