Janibek Alimkhanuly will be heading back home to Kazakhstan to face Anauel Ngamissengue in the main event of a Top Rank card. He will be placing his IBF and WBO middleweight titles on the line in this bout.

Janibek (16-0, 11 KOs) is currently ranked at the top of middleweight standings according to ESPN. He managed to knock out Danny Dignum to gain the WBO interim middleweight championship status back in May 2022. He was later elevated to WBO champ in August 2022 when Demetrius Andrade vacated the middleweight crown.

The champ went on to defend his crown twice before landing a unification bout for the IBF belt in October 2023. Janibek (32 years old) went ahead to win this contest which was against then IBF champion Vincenzo Gualtieri by TKO to unify his titles. This did not stop him from making his most recent win a TKO over Andrei Mikhailovich back in October.

His opponent on the other hand, Ngamissengue (14-0, 9 KOs), is ranked No. 7 middleweight according to ESPN rankings, No. 13 by WBO and No. 7 again by the IBF. Though slightly younger than Janibek at 29 years of age, Ngamissengue has not been in the ring since June 2024 when he was able to gain a victory over Sandro Jajanidze by TKO.

Ngamissengue will get a chance for the first time to compete for a title this Saturday, it is not going to be easy for the Congolese French boxer as it will be in Janibek’s home country, and he must consider it as hostile territory.

When asked about the fight in a press conference, Janibek had this to say. “Qazaq Style is finally coming home. April 5 will be a memorable night as I defend my WBO and IBF world titles against a top opponent. Many fighters turned down this opportunity, so I credit Anauel for accepting the challenge. My goal is to become the undisputed champion, and Anauel’s in my way. The fans in Kazakhstan and everyone watching worldwide will see something special,” said Janibek.

Ngamissengue also showed his appreciation to this opportunity being his first challenge for a title in a press conference.

“Thank you for this long-awaited opportunity. After almost a year of fighting for a chance, this is the most important moment of my career. I know I am going into the lion’s den, but I thrive in situations like this. I respect Janibek and everything he has achieved, but I am coming to Kazakhstan to crash the party and show the world that I belong at the top. See you on April 5,” said Ngamissengue.

People of Kazakhstan will be happy to watch of their own represent them and Janibek will be hoping for a win to go with that.
