At a Queensberry Promotions press conference, it was announced that two British heavyweights Joe Joyce (16-2, 15 KOs) and Derek Chisora (34-13, 23) will collide on TNT Sports in the main event at the 02 arena in an event titled “Go Big or Go Home.” It’s a fight that has seemingly been on the table for a considerable time, but the two big punchers will now meet in London in a true crossroads fight on July 27.

Frank Warren Reveals Joe Joyce vs. Derek Chisora

This domestic dust-up is an intriguing fight with a defeat unthinkable for either fighter. Two-time world title challenger Chisora was last seen defeating Gerald Washington in August 2023 at The O2. The much-travelled Finchley man has an impressive CV featuring Carlos Takam, Dillian Whyte, Senad Gashi, Artur Szpilka, Oleksandr Usyk, Joseph Parker and Kubrat Pullev since 2018, showing the level “War” has operated at in recent years.

Joyce has also mixed at a high level. After enjoying an impressive amateur career, he has recorded wins over Takam, Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker. Disappointment for “Juggernaut” came when losing back-to-back fights against heavy-handed Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang. Rumours were rife that the London fighter would retire, but he returned to the winner’s table, stopping Kash Ali in the tenth round of his comeback fight.

Heavyweight boxing has arguably never been stronger with the recent involvement of Turki Alalshikh and the impressive fights he’s helped make.

Frank Warren Reveals Joyce-Chisora

“This is a proper old school heavyweight fight that seems to have been a long time in the making,” said promoter Frank Warren.

He continued: “I remember it being talked about strongly even before we teamed up with Joe and it has always struck me as a natural and obvious fight to make.”

Warren added: “Two top London heavies fighting it out for a place back at the top table promises to deliver a cracking scrap. The winner is right back in business, with no real place to go for the loser.”

The full undercard including Dennis McCann, Henry Turner, Archie Sharp, Sean Noakes and Aadam Hamed plus more will be announced in the coming weeks.
