Queensberry Wins Sheeraz-Alimkhanuly Purse Bid

Queensberry secured promotional rights to the WBO super middleweight title fight between champion Hamzah Sheeraz and mandatory challenger Janibek Alimkhanuly at Wednesday's purse bid, per ESPN.

The bout will match Sheeraz, who claimed the vacant WBO strap against Tyler Denny in February, against Alimkhanuly, the former middleweight titleholder moving up in search of a second belt. Queensberry now controls the fight date and venue.

What Queensberry's Win Means For Sheeraz's Schedule

Sheeraz has fought exclusively under Queensberry and promotional partner BOXXER since turning professional. The purse bid outcome keeps him in familiar promotional territory for his first defence. Alimkhanuly vacated his WBO middleweight title in March to pursue the super middleweight shot.

The WBO has not announced a deadline for the fight. Queensberry is expected to propose dates and locations in the coming weeks.
