This weekend, Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero and Teofimo Lopez will put their friendship aside when they meet inside the ring with Romero’s WBA welterweight world title on the line.
The two have a long history together outside of fight night and have previously sparred, adding another layer to Saturday’s matchup. But friendship will have to wait once the bell rings in Las Vegas.
Romero (17-2, 13 KOs) has not fought since scoring an upset unanimous-decision victory over Ryan Garcia in May 2025. He enters Saturday as WBA welterweight champion and will make his first defense of the title against Lopez.
Lopez (22-2, 13 KOs), meanwhile, is moving up to welterweight looking to bounce back after suffering a one-sided unanimous-decision loss to Shakur Stevenson in January. A victory would make the former lightweight and junior welterweight champion a three-division world champion.
Romero vs. Lopez takes place Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The PBC pay-per-view broadcast begins at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. An official main-event ring-walk time has not been announced, and the timing can change depending on the length of the preceding fights.
The fight will be available live via DAZN PPV and Prime Video PPV.
According to Tapology, the current fight card includes:
The card and bout order are subject to change.
With Romero returning after more than a year away and Lopez attempting to rebound while chasing a championship in a third division, their friendship will be put aside for one night when they finally settle things inside T-Mobile Arena.
