Former world champion megastar Roy Jones Jr. has no immediate plans on settling his long-standing beef with Floyd Mayweather, unless it’s in the ring.
Embroiled in a lengthy spat with his fellow Olympic star, former super middleweight kingpin Roy Jones Jr. has played up a rivalry with Floyd Mayweather in recent years.
And helped no end by Mayweather’s decision to post footage of Jones Jr.’s infamous knockout loss to Antonio Tarver, the Pensacola native is far from interested in cosying up to the former.
So much so, in fact, Jones Jr. speculated that he and Mayweather will never be “cool”, amid continued calls for the duo to meet in a boxing grudge match.
Long maintaining a certain view on Mayweather’s standing amongst fellow boxing greats Muhammad Ali and even incoming foe Mike Tyson, Jones Jr. believes the Michigan native elected to reserve his talents in the ring for alternate opponents.
And when questioned if he and Mayweather could ever mend their broken bridges, Jones Jr. is not holding his breath — even questioning how the undefeated megastar could better him in competition.
“We ain’t ever gonna be cool,” Jones Jr. told IFL TV of his feud with Mayweather.
And when pressed on if he would ever fight Mayweather in a bid to settle their differences, Jones Jr. quipped, “Of course I would. Why would I not?”
A firm critic of whom Mayweather has shared the ring with, Jones Jr. is not alone in that sentiment, however.
However, as far as the Floridian is concerned, Mayweather falls a considerable way short when it comes to a comparison with a current-day boxing great.
