Just a few years ago, a fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua would have been inconceivable. However, that is no longer the case.

Eddie Hearn has said that a potential fight between Joshua and Paul is a possibility, as ‘The Problem Child’ is coming off a win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Joshua has not competed since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, and is supposedly returning in 2025.

Although a fight between the internet star and the former heavyweight champion splits opinions in the boxing world, one hall of fame fighter has a clear stance on the matchup.

Roy Jones Jr. approves of potential fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua

Former multi-weight world champion Roy Jones Jr. was asked for his take on a potential fight between Paul and Joshua in an interview with TalkSport.

Although some people may be apprehensive regarding a meeting between the pair, Jones Jr. was enthusiastic about a fight between Paul and Joshua.

When asked if he thought the fight was good for boxing, Jones Jr. replied, “I think it’s great for boxing. I think the fight will happen.”

Adding to his statement, Jones Jr. referenced Joshua’s fight with Francis Ngannou. “AJ is 1-0 against these guys that come into their boxing careers late, so why not? He’s a perfect guy to take him [Paul] out, too.”

The former Bernard Hopkins opponent Jones Jr. then said he feels he can ‘take out’ Paul the same way he did Ngannou.

Jones Jr. also said the fight is logical for Joshua from a financial standpoint, “He’d probably make more money fighting Jake Paul than he will fighting anyone else right now.”

Jake Paul feels that Anthony Joshua has a ‘weak chin’

Although a fight between Paul and Joshua is not yet confirmed, this has not stopped the internet star from mentioning ‘AJ’ on multiple occasions.

While in attendance at the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois, Paul spoke about Joshua in an interview with The Stomping Ground.

Paul said that he would ‘love’ to fight Joshua at Wembley Stadium, also envisioning a stoppage of the former world champion.

When talking about Tyson Fury saying he would bet on ‘The Problem Child’ to stop Joshua, Paul said that ‘AJ’ ‘has a weak chin’ in his interview.
