Ryan Garcia and David Benavidez spent time working together in the gym, providing a rare look at two of the sport’s biggest names.
The training session served as preparation for their upcoming 2026 campaigns, both of which involve world title fights. Ryan is preparing for his February 21 clash with Mario Barrios. By drilling with the “Mexican Monster”—widely regarded as one of the sport’s most relentless pressure fighters—Garcia is conditioning himself for the volume he expects from the WBC welterweight champion.
By working with Garcia, known for having some of the fastest hands in boxing, it allows the undefeated WBC 175-pound champion Benavidez to maintain his timing and defensive reflexes as he prepares for a massive physical transition at cruiserweight against Zurdo Ramirez on Cinco De Mayo.
| Fighter | Next Opponent | Date | Stakes |
| Ryan Garcia | Mario Barrios | Feb 21, 2026 | WBC Welterweight Title |
| David Benavidez | Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez | May 2, 2026 | WBA & WBO Cruiserweight Titles |
A victory in February would finally crown Garcia as a world champion after a decade-long career. It would also lock him into a high-profile mandatory defense against Conor Benn later this year, a fight that both men have already begun talking about. By challenging Zurdo Ramirez, Benavidez is bypassing a traditional tune-up to try and snatch two world titles in a single night, as Zurdo has the WBA and WBO belts. The video below shows the two hitting the mitts and boxing around the ring.
