On February 21, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Ryan Garcia will challenge Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight title in the main event of The Ring: High Stakes fight card, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
Ahead of his world title fight with Barrios, Garcia has dismissed Shakur Stevenson’s talents, while sending a brutal warning to the new WBO super lightweight champion.
Recently, when speaking to the media, Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) sounded off on Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs), claiming his skills would be too much for the Newark native.
When talking to Fight Hub TV about Stevenson, Garcia dismissed his old amateur rival: “I will just beat him, and I just think that everybody thinks he’s just some savant in the ring, and I’m just here to take that away. That’s pretty much what it is. They thought that Devin Haney was the same way. He’s unbeatable, that’s what Eddie Hearn said, right?
“And then when I beat his ass. Same thing with Shakur. I know people are saying he’s pound-for-pound, this and that, but I don’t see it. He’s gonna have to prove it. I beat him in the amateurs, I’ll beat him again, and I will hurt him. You don’t understand me? I will humble him in ways that he’s never been humbled before. And that’s it. Point blank period. I wanna fight him, that’s it,” said Garcia.
