On February 21, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Mario Barrios vs Ryan Garcia headlines The Ring: High Stakes fight card. They will clash for Barrios’ WBC welterweight title, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
Ahead of this WBC world title fight, Ryan Garcia has spoken to Mike Coppinger from The Ring Magazine, firing a warning to the new WBO super lightweight world champion Shakur Stevenson.
Since Shakur Stevenson’s dominating win over Teofimo Lopez to capture The Ring and WBO super lightweight title, the boxing world has speculated what weight Stevenson will fight at next. After he was stripped of the WBC lightweight title, it appears he will operate at super lightweight or higher weight classes.
Ryan Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) has recently spoken about facing Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs), and Shakur recently responded via his X account:
“144 Ryan let’s do it.. I’ll be at your fight now scrub! Vada will be involved so don’t run from that,” said Stevenson.
When discussing Shakur with Mike Coppinger, Ryan Garcia said:
“The thing is with Shakur, they’re going to be all thinking he’s going to spank me, blah, blah, blah, all this s**t.
“And when I get in there and start hitting him, it’s going to be a whole…because I’m not one of those fighters that don’t have a quick eye. He knows that my eye is quick. I have that same eye twitch that Shakur has, I do.
“He knows that we fought in the amateurs. I beat you. Don’t even play around. You know I did. They robbed me.”
