Ryan Garcia warns Manny Pacquiao about comeback opponent

Expected to make his comeback to the ring as soon as January, Pacquiao has been lined up to challenge for welterweight gold once more.

And initially fighting WBC champion Mario Barrios in a split decision draw earlier this summer in his return, Pacquiao is currently targeting a WBA welterweight title showdown with Rolly Romero.

Having himself shared the ring with Romero earlier this year in a shock decision loss to the Las Vegas star, polarizing boxing talent Ryan Garcia has claimed Romero’s “power” may cause Pacquiao some concern.

“Rolly (Romero) is very awkward,” Garcia told Ring Magazine. “And he has a lot of power.”

However, when asked to pick a definitive winner in the potential showcase, Garcia claimed he was “100%” confident Pacquiao could get the job done and land a victory over Romero.

Ryan Garcia expected to miss Manny Pacquiao fight

Initially targeting an end-of-year comeback to action, former world champion Pacquiao has seen his desired date taken by a recent foe of Gervonta Davis, who suffered his own controversial result.

Off the back of his comeback fight with Barrios, the Philippines star was expected to land another high-profile pairing his sophomore outing since his return.

However, with a matchup against Garcia himself suggested, the Californian was branded as “difficult” to deal with by Pacquiao’s management.
