It was a night of great action as ‘The Towering Inferno’ went to war. Sebastian Fundora (22-1-1, 14 KOs) vs Chordale Booker (23-2, 11 KOs) fight was the headline episode of a Premier Boxing Champions card on March 22. The event was held at the Michelob Ultra Arena, Las Vegas. It was eventually a routine victory for “The Towering Inferno” as he reigned on Booker in dominant design to retain his WBC & WBO super welterweight belts.

Fundora made the first defence of the two titles he attained from Tim Tszyu a year ago, as the talented Booker seemed to cash in on a big and unanticipated chance. The card further featured returns for Jesus Ramos Jr as well as Elijah Garcia, the latter sort to bounce back from his first pro defeat.

The first round was cagey, with neither of the fighters able to land anything meaningful. In the subsequent round, Booker progressed well and got inside the jab of Fundora. Fundora towers over Booker, yet “The Gift” excelled when he got inside at the beginning of the third round. In spite of the auspicious moments for Booker, Fundora owned the game in the third, landing eye-catching hooks, backing his rival up.

I’ve felt ready this whole time since my last fight. I’ve worked very hard this past year to be ready. Now I’ve successfully defended my two titles and the sky’s the limit,” said Fundora in an after-match interview.

After a year layoff, Fundora outclassed the overmatched Booker and floored him in the fourth round with a tough shot to the head. He beat the count though was getting hammered. Thus, the referee, Thomas Taylor, had no option rather to end the contest.

I showed the fans that I’m a powerful fighter. I’ve always been a powerful fighter and I showed it even more tonight. We didn’t even bring a southpaw into camp. It was just about catching his footwork. He didn’t want to trade at all, so we just broke him down to the body and when I hurt him in the third round, it slowed him down a lot,” he said.

In spite of being the shorter man, Booker opted to stay on the outside against Fundora and exploit lateral movement.

“I’d love to be the undisputed champion like my sister. Whoever they have for me next, I’ll be ready. I want the IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev, plus Xander Zayas is the WBO mandatory, and I also want Errol Spence Jr. We have two belts, we have to defend them, and if anyone is willing to unify, let’s do that too,” Fundora said.

Albeit Booker had his moments, he was constantly out-landed by Fundora round after round, and it didn't last long before Fundora marked a real dent in the opponent.
