The anticipated clash between New York’s finest, Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson, seems to be finally on deck.
Linked with a long-awaited super fight, current WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson has been tied to a potential division leap in pursuit of Teofimo Lopez’s crowns at 140lbs.
And on a collision course for a blockbuster fight, Stevenson and Lopez may finally have a date to share the ring in a bid to settle their differences.
According to reports, fans eager to see the duo duke it out in the ring may not have to wait that much longer.
Having scuttled talks for another super fight with Devin Haney — who instead will face Brian Norman Jr. for WBO welterweight gold, Stevenson may have a date with Lopez at the turn of 2026.
According to a report from Boxing Scene, Stevenson is “receptive” to a clash with Lopez at the beginning of the year, potentially on a Riyadh Season card in January next.
BoxingScene understands that negotiations for Teofimo Lopez-Shakur Stevenson are making progress and Stevenson is “very” receptive to fighting the WBO 140lbs champion in January.

And amid continued links to a super fight, a veteran coach has weighed in on the debate over who would win between Lopez and Stevenson, in rather bold fashion.
A veteran former world champion himself, decorated coach Robert Garcia has offered quite a definitive breakdown on the potential Lopez and Stevenson matchup.
Training the who’s who of the sport over the years, including his younger brother Mikey Garcia, Anthony Joshua and Antonio Margarito, to name a few, Garcia is confident in picking Lopez to prevail.
“Man, I love that fight, but I don’t know, I pick Teofimo,” Garcia told ESNews.
“I like Teofimo, that’s why, because I like him, you know, Shakur’s cool too, but I think Teofimo, with his dad, I kind of get along very well, but Shakur is very respectful, him and his team are very respectful, so I hate to go against him.
“Talent-wise Shakur is probably better, but I just like Teofimo’s heart and mentality, more like a true warrior.”
